In the exhibition ‘Here, a moment ago’, Ege Acar and Maya Kurdoğlu’s works exploring ‘non-real, yet familiar places and imaginary friends’ come together in the same space. The determined distance and coincidental intersections in their works make the dream of another reality possible.

Ege Acar is an architectural designer, photographer and illustrator from Istanbul, Turkiye, currently based in London UK. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Architecture from Istanbul Bilgi University and a Master’s degree in Architecture and Urbanism from Architectural Association School of Architecture. He is currently working on local and international architectural projects in London. Ege has shared his expertise on photography through lectures at universities. While previously focusing on digital mediums, Ege is expanding his portfolio to include hand-drawn illustrations using charcoal and ink in his debut exhibition at fam°, İstanbul Tasarım Müzesi.

Maya Kurdoğlu lives in London and Istanbul. She creates moving and still images, sculptures and objects using various materials like water colour, ink, pen, pigments, clay, thread, fabric, paper.

She graduated from Central Saint Martins, product design. She worked as a designer, illustrator, animator, writer and concept artist, and conducted art workshops.

She made numerous music videos, promotional films and short films. She predominantly uses analog methods digitalized in her works. Her short animated film received awards from festivals including the World of Film International Festival Glasgow, and was featured in various festival selections including Raindance and Venezia Shorts.

She illustrated and designed the children’s book “The Collector of Fine and Gracious Things”, published by Sıfırdan Yayınları.

She participated in exhibitions in Istanbul and London. She participated in the “Sahadan” exhibition, which was supported under the British Council’s Creative
Collaborations Grant Program.
